JAMMU, Jan 10: Mishika Mittal- a class 11th student of KC Public School has brought laurels by winning an internationally acclaimed ‘King Constantine Medal’ for her outstanding and kind acts of service during COVID-19 pandemic.
She received the award in a virtual function organized by the school after receiving the award via courier from Round Square’s Headquarter at Windsor, UK, due to covid restrictions. She has always taken active participation in community service.
During 2020 global pandemic, Mishika along with the School service team took the initiative to make more than 400 masks and presented them to SSP Sandeep Mehta (Operations/Cyber Crime Jammu) to distribute among the poor, besides several in-school online workshops were conducted to make homemade sanitizers which were then donated to the domestic helpers.
She is also a part of the community kitchen. For the past 6 years, with the assistance of her family members, she has organized various ‘langars’ for the daily wage workers on a monthly basis through which they are able to feed 800-900 people per month.
“Mishika has always been a bright student, not only in academics but in her kind acts and ideas of doing something for the society. We are proud of her and wish her a bright future,” said Sonia Thakur, the Round Square Representative of KC Public School.
In 2021, Mishika Mittal started a campaign: ‘Support for Tomorrow’ with the aim to mobilize many students to come forward to help children in need by spending quality time with them and make them feel special. “I am honored to receive such a prestigious award. I always love doing something for the society and will keep doing in future too,” said awardee Mishika Mittal.
