SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday gave his nod for organizing National level 5-stage 12th Tour de Kashmir Cycling Expedition from September 20 to 26.
The 350-kilometer, 5-day national level cycling extravaganza would be organized by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) in collaboration with Tourism Department.
The event would be flagged off on September 21 at Verinag, Anantnag, and in it around 70 top riders would be competing that included 30 national riders.
The JKSDA delegation led by its president Bashir Ahmad Malik and senior vice-president, Rouf Ahmad Tramboo met Tourism Minister, Ghulam Ahmad Mir at latter’s residence on today regarding organization of the event.
The Minister after reviewing the Tour project was impressed by the presentation and efforts of the JKSDA in promotion of Tourism through sports events. He readily gave his nod for the organizing of the event and assured organizers of full support from Tourism Department.
“The event would be inaugurated at Verinag on September 21 and on first day riders will compete from Verinag to Pahalgam. The tour will cover all the major tourist destinations of Kashmir during its five day programme”, he said.
Tourism Minister assured organizers of promoting this event in big way and making it an annual feature n Tourism Department calendar.
The JKSDA has thanked Tourism Minister, GA Mir and Director Tourism, Talat Parvaiz for their support.
