MIET student to represent India in ICDL Challenge at Singapore

JAMMU, July 4: Prince Sumberia, a second-year Computer Science Engineering student at MIET achieved the unique distinction of winning the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) Digital Challenge Competition India, 2017.
ICDL is an international organization devoted to the promotion and certification of computer skills across Asia.
Prince along with another student from Meghalaya has been further selected to participate in the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge in Singapore from 19th-21st July and represent India at this international competition.
ICDL Asia Digital Challenge is the first ever ICDL computer and digital competition in Asia, open to tertiary and university students between 18-25 years old. The challenge hopes to search and recognize the top student with the best ICT skills. The Indian leg of Asia Digital Challenge had over 7000 participants from 12 states and 26 cities in which participants were required to appear in two online tests based on ICDL modules of spreadsheet, presentations, word processing and IT security.
A felicitation function was organized by ICDL in association with PHD Chamber in New Delhi to felicitate the winners and institutions for their constructive role in imparting ICT skills to the students. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India and Damien O’Sullivan, CEO, ICDL Foundation presented the awards to Prince Sumberia and Sahil Sawhney, Manager Strategic Initiatives, MIET who received the award on behalf of institution.
MIET also became the first institution in the state of J&K to get accredited by ICDL for imparting and certifying digital skills as per the existing international standards and benchmarks.
Prince will now compete with top 2 students from Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, and Bhutan in the final round of the competition which will be held on July 20, 2017 in Singapore. The overall winner of this competition will stand a chance to win attractive prizes including an opportunity for a Student Exchange Program with ICDL at an international location.
