MIER organizes extension lecture

JAMMU, Apr 10: MIER College of Education organised an extension lecture on “Effects of Domestic Violence”, at Kabir Basti, BC road.
A group of 21 students of Extension Activity Unit of the college took part in the activity under the supervision of Bharti Gupta, Incharge of the unit. Jasbir Singh, Medical Officer MIER also accompanied them for the general health checkup of the residents.
Bharti Gupta highlighted the issues related to women like illiteracy, lack of awareness about their rights and schemes to empower them.
The students emphasized on the various other triggers of domestic violence like alcoholism, unemployment of the spouse, economic problems, adjustment problems, psycho-social problems etc.
Jasbir Singh, Medical Officer MIER discussed about the importance of health and hygiene and the causes of spread of diseases.
This was followed by the health check-up, in which 20 inhabitants were diagnosed for various health ailments and some of them were also provided with medicines.
