JAMMU, Dec 15: Splendid knock by Ranjit Singh (54) and some inspired bowling performances from Nitin Thakur, Rahul Khatri helped Media XI Cricket Club Jammu to beat KPPL Warriors by 7 wickets in an exhibition match of the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL), being played at KC Sports Stadium Cricket Ground, here today.
KPPL Warriors led by Ankur Bhagati won the toss and decided to bat first. Chander Mohan (27) and Shivam Kaul (25) provided KPPL a decent start but disciplined bowling spells by Nitin Thakur and Rahul Khatri restricted the KPPL to 127 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ritik Jotshi and Rohit Handoo made 16 and 25 runs respectively.
In reply, Media XI with the help of Ranjit Singh (54) and Anil Choudhary (27) dominated KPPL bowlers and ensured 7 wickets victory for Media XI with 7 balls to spare. Amit, Sunil and Rahul also chipped in with 12, 13 and 12 runs respectively.
In the post match presentation, Vivek Suri, skipper Media XI Cricket Club congratulated the organizers of the KPPL for organizing a cricket tournament with state of the art facilities for the youth of J&K who seldom get a chance to express their talent and potential at such a high level.
Later, Ranjit Singh from Media XI was declared as player of the match for his outstanding fifty while chasing the target.
