Media-XI Blue registers win in Mixed Gender Cricket Exhibition Match

JAMMU, July 19: History was created in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir when first of its kind Mixed Gender Cricket Exhibition Match was organised by Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu at Country Cricket Ground Gharota here.
On the occasion, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli was the chief guest whereas Baba Chanchal Singh, senior BJP leader, Bhanu Mahajan, Councillor Congress JMC, Sham Lal Langer, Convenor Industries and Trader Cell BJP and Vinod Khajuria, District President, JKCA, Jammu were guests of honour.
Media-XI Green captain Minu Slathia won the toss and elected to bat first in humid condition which comprises senior player like Rupali Slathia.
Media-XI Blue led by Vivek Suri got an early break through when Ashu was cleaned up by Rifat in 2nd over. Media-XI Green scored 83 runs as Dev Thakur and Pawan Parihar both played good knocks of 26 and 15 runs respectively whereas Minu Slathia played a sheet anchor role of 13 runs and remained not out as the match was reduced to 15 overs due to overcast conditions.
Rahul Khatri took 2 wickets, whereas Nadia and Rifat shared one wicket each for Media-XI Blue.
Chasing the target of 84 to win the match in 15 overs, Amit Kumar was bowled out by Dev Thakur in very first over on a duck. Nadia in order to accelerate the scoring too got out. Media-XI Green bowled on a tight line length and maintained the pressure on the opponent team. With 3 wickets down, Rahul Khatri played a good knock of 15 runs in 15 balls followed by Vivek Suri who scored 20 runs in 18 balls before he got retired hurt when team needed 6 runs in 6 balls. Opener Sapna played a sheet anchor role and remained unbeaten on 20 runs. The Media-XI Blue achieved the target in 14.3 overs and won the match by 6 wickets.
Dev Thakur took 3 wickets and Ananya scalped 1 wicket for Media-XI Green.
Later, trophies were given to Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Club Academy Gharota, SHO Police Station Gharota Inspector Khyati Maan Khajuria and Veena Sharma, senior coach.
