JAMMU, Apr 4: Mechanical Engineering Department smashed Electrical Engineering Department by 3-1 sets and lifted the rolling Inter-Department Volleyball Tournament trophy organised by Government Polytechnic Jammu.
During the final match, Electrical Engineering Department defeated Mechanical Engineering Department by 24-21 in the first set, whereas in the second set, Mechanical Engineering Department team equalized the game and registered win by 24-20.
In the third set, Mechanical Engineering Department crushed Electrical Engineering Department team by 24-19 and in the fourth set continued their winning momentum and registered win by 24-22 and lifted the title trophy.
On the valedictory function, Principal of the institution Arun Bangotra awarded the winner and runner-up teams.
While speaking, Bangotra laid stress on the importance of sports activities and encouraged the students to participate in sports activities which develop the quality of leadership, sense of responsibility and create the feeling of oneness by working together to become the good citizen of India.
He added that sports play pivotal role in the day-to-day life and asked the students to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
In the tournament, eight teams from various departments participated and were vying for the coveted trophy.
The Tournament was organised under the overall supervision of Rakesh Kakkar, Physical Education Master (PEM) of Sports Department.
Among others present were Inderjeet Singh, Workshop Superintendent, KS Bhatia, HoD, Mechanical, staff and students of the college.
