JAMMU, Oct 31: On the final day of the North Zone Inter University Badminton (Men & Women) Championship, Shantmanu, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, give away the prizes to the winning teams and also presented mementoes and trophies to the teams, here.
MDU Rohtak prevailed upon PU Chandigarh for the championship title and defeated the opponents by (3 – 1) in Men’s section.
In the women section Punjab University trances AMU Aligarh by (2-1) whereas Kurukshetra University 3rd in the Men Section and Rohtak University got 3rd position in women’s section.
Prof Dhian S Bhau, organizing secretary and Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education while welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries also presented the report of the matches conducted by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education wherein 45 Universities participated in (Men) Championship and 37 Universities participated in women section.
He also conveyed his thanks to the Technical Officials, Jammu Kashmir Badminton Association, ADGP Sports and his team, DIG Armed Jammu, SSP 10th & 15th Battalion Jammu especially the police personals who were working on the ground in the University.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee, Prof Premeshwari Devi, B K Magotra, H S Chib, Dr O D Sharma, Balbir Singh Jamwal, Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Coordinator Campuses, Dr. Jaspal, DDE, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Mahesh Sharma, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Dr. Vikas Karlopia, P.D. Singh, Jai Bharat, Gautam Sharma, Vikesh Sharma and the whole staff of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education.
The matches were officiated by Krishan Gopal (Chief Referee), Jyoti Rajput, Shakeel Ahmed, J S Arneja, Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha, Vikram Jamwal, Balbir Singh Jamwal and Amit Sharma.
