JAMMU, May 6: MCA Department defeated Mathe- matics Department by (2-0) badminton women event in the Inter-Department Tournament, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau its Director, here.
In badminton women singles, Akshima of MCA Department defeated Heena of Mathematics Department by (21-11), while in doubles, the duo of Akshima and Ankita of MCA Department beat Heena and Mala of Mathematics Department by (21-13).
In badminton men, Mathematics Department got better of Economics Department by (2-0). Amit Jasrotia of Math trounced Shakti of Economics Department by (21-5), while Sushil of Mathematics prevailed over Mohinder of Economics Department by (21-10).
Meanwhile, in chess men, The Law School beat History Department by (2-0), with Vishal of the Law School beating Rahul Sharma of History and Utkarsh of the Law School outplaying Vishal Sharma of History.
In the second match, Economics Department got better of Physical Education by (2-0). Mohinder of Economics drubbed Vinay Manhas of Physical Education, while Amarjeet Singh of Economics Department beat Manoj Singh of Physical Education.
The matches were officiated by Maxin Singh, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar and Vikas Karlopia.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were PD Singh, Jai Bharat and Nisha Sharma.
