MBS Hockey Club to lock-horns with GNNHC in summit clash

JAMMU, Jan 17: Outplaying their rivals in their respective semifinal clashes, MBS Hockey Club Simbal Camp and Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club sealed berths in the finals of the ongoing 2nd Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sub Junior Hockey Tournament, being organized by Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Foundation at KK Hakhu Astroturf Stadium, here.
This tournament is being organized under the aegis of Hockey J&K with an objective to promote the game among youngsters.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club defeated Sittu Club Simbal Camp by six goals to five (6-5) via tie-breaker.
In the stipulated time, the match ended in a (1-1) draw as the players of both the teams displayed the skill of attack and defence.
Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club scored 1st goal in the 26th minute through Vishal Kumar, while Tanvir Singh scored an equalizer during the 40th minute for Sittu Club.
In the tie-breaker, Vishal, Ramandeep, Vikram, Tushar and Simranpal converted their strokes into the goals for Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club, while Robin Singh, Jaspreet, Ramandeep and Manmeet netted goals for Sittu Club.
In the 2nd semifinal, MBS Simbal Camp drubbed Ajit Hockey Club Gole Gujral by a margin of three goals to nil (3-0). For MBS Hockey Club, Gagndeep Singh scored 1st goal in 21st minute, the 2nd goal was scored by S Harvinderpal Singh in 45th minute via penalty corner and the 3rd goal was pelted by S Ramandeep Singh during 50th minute.
The matches were officiated by Jagjit Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Joginder Singh, S Charanjit Singh, S Jaspreet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Karanjit Singh and G S Bakshi, tournament director.
Gurcharan Singh, retired District Sports Officer was the guest of honour, who was introduced with the players of both the teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Ranbir Singh, Romal Singh, S Manjit Singh, S Avtar Singh, Rajinder Singh, Bal Krishan, Tejinder Singh, Tirlok Singh and Davinder Bakshi.
The final match will be played on January 19, 2015 at 2 pm and the chief guest for prize distribution function will be Dr Ab Kabir Dar, Director General Indian Systems of Medicine J&K State and Mission Director AYUSH Mission, Govt of India.
