Mayank Goswami CC registers win in inaugural tie

JAMMU, May 10: Mayank Goswami Cricket Club defeated Jai Hind Cricket Club by 8 wickets in the inaugural match of the Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament, being organized by Sunil Kumar, coach of Mayank Goswami Cricket Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Ankush Abrol, Working Committee Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and Vice President Youth National Conference was the chief guest on the inaugural ceremony, who interacted with the players of both the teams on the occasion. Shashi Pal, Chairman Jammu Tawi Sports Cricket Club was also present on the occasion.
Batting first, Jai Hind Cricket Club scored 197 runs in 35.3 overs. Abhinav Puri was the top scorer with 71 runs, while Abhishek Khajuria and Monish Singal contributed 39 and 29 runs to the total respectively. For Mayank Goswami Cricket Club, Nityam Abrol and Surya Mahotra took 3 wickets each, while Shubham Singh Pundir bagged 2 wickets. Sampark Gupta and Sanat Gupta claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Mayank Goswami CC chased the target easily by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Nitesh Jamwal scored brilliant unbeaten 85 runs, while Surya Mahotra and Suryansh Raina contributed 46 and 39 runs to the total respectively. For Jai Hind Club, Abhinav Puri and Aryan Dogra claimed one wicket each. Surya Mahotra was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Sachin Singh as umpires, while Shiv Kumar was the scorer.
