BHADERWAH, June 24: Outplaying their rivals convincingly in their respective matches, Masood Cricket Club and Trown Cricket Club entered into the next round of the ongoing 2nd Edition of Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhaderwah, under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Youth Combined Cricket Club Bhaderwah at Degree College ground, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Trown Club got better of Massod-B by a narrow margin of 11 runs. Batting first, Trown Club scored a good total of 153 runs in 19 overs by losing 5 wickets. Anwar (32) and Irfan (31) were the main contributors. For Masood-B, Irfan and Jahangir took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Masood-B bundled out for 142 runs in 17.3 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 11 runs. Sameer top scored with 40 runs, while Momin contributed 30 runs to the total. For Trown Club, Umar was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 important wickets, while Sandeep claimed 2 wickets. Umar was declared M/s Ghulam Qadir Cetar Wood Oil man of the match for his 5-wicket haul.
In another match, Masood Cricket Club defeated Bhaderwah Cricket Club (BCC) by 9 wickets in a one-sided contest. Batting first, BCC scored a paltry total of 94 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Waqar and Naseer contributed 22 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For Masood Club, Shafqat Baba was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 4 important wickets, while Zahir Mughal and Fayaz Batt claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Masood Club scored 97 runs in 7.1 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Aftab played a brilliant innings of 51 runs, while Tahir Shapoo contributed 23 runs to the total. Aftab was declared man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Usman Najar and Ashfaq Khan as umpires, while Rahul Sharma and Faisal Zargar maintained the scorebook.
