KATHUA, Aug 22: Blanking Barnoti zone by three goals to nil (3-0) in the summit clash, Marheen zone won the title trophy of the District Level Under-19 Boys Inter-Zonal Football Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Kathua, Sunil Kumar at Government Higher Secondary School, Chandwan, here.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Barnoti defeated Bilawar zone by six goals to nil (6-0) to seal berth in the finals, while in the second semifinal, Marheen zone defeated Hiranagar by two goals to one (2-1).
The officiating panel included Parveen Singh, Naveen Singh, Kulbhushan Singh, Harvinder Singh and Sanjay Kumar.
Activity in-charge Joginder Kumar and Mohan Lal Dubb and Omkar Sharma assisted the officials in smooth conduct of the Tournament.
Zonal Physical Education Officers-Sukesh Sharma, Ganesh Dass and Pardeep Singh were present on the occasion.
A total of 74 players participated in the Tournament with enthusiasm and fervour.
Earlier, Principal Higher Secondary School Chandvan, Om Parkash Sharma inaugurated the Tournament in an impressive and well attended function.
