JAMMU, June 12: Manjeet’s last over heroic helps KV2 XI a 1 run win over Rebellz Cricket Club in a T20 match, organised under the guidance of KV2 (Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2), Principal Bhushan Kumar, at KV2 School Ground, here today.
In a nail biting finish, with 10 runs needed off the last two overs, Sachin Kumar and Manjeet were successful in defending the score for KV2 XI.
Earlier, led by Samendar Rathore, KV2 XI won the toss and opted to bat first. Asif (51 runs off 56 balls) and Samendar Rathore (41 runs off 37 balls) helped KV2 XI to post a challenging 142 runs by losing 7 on the scoreboard in the stipulated 20 overs. From the bowling side, Rohit Jatt and Vishal took 3 wickets each, while Shah Raja got 1 wicket.
In reply, Rebellz opener Pranav Mahajan (54 runs off 37 balls) gave a good start to the team in chase with support from Gagan (31 runs from 30 balls) as they scored freely. The middle over bowling trio of Sushant, Sachin Kumar and Sikander Kumar made it difficult for batters to score, putting brakes on the runs leading to increase in required run rate.
The pressure built up by the bowlers with good fielding led to Pranav’s run out. A quick fire by Sanjog Paul (24 runs in 16 balls) swung the match towards the Rebellz Cricket Club. With 10 runs required of 12 balls with 6 wickets in hand, Rebellz were the favourites, but KV2 XI’s had other plans. Three brilliant catches by Rajan Rajput and Sunny Kotwal with excellent depth bowling by Sachin Kumar and Manjeet defended the target by 1 run.
Manjeet was declared as ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant spell in which he took three wickets.
