Ladakh, Aug 27: Ladakh Cycling Club (LCC) organized first of its kind cycling expedition in which two of the highest passes Warila Pass (17612 ft) and Khardongla Pass (18,380 ft) were covered within a span of 24 hours.
The route comprised of a total distance of 225 Kilometers and was completed in 16 hours and 18 minutes.
A total of 15 members including one support staff was part of the team led by its captain Rinchen Angdus. The expedition started at 2:10 in the morning on 23rd August 2020, from Petrol Pump Leh and headed towards Warila top, where the team reached by 11:30 in the morning. From there they continued the ride to crossing by Agham, Shayok, Khardong village and reached Khardongla top by 11:30 at night. They started Khardongla descend at 11:45 in the night and finally reached Leh at 1:10 in the morning on 24th of August 2020.
It is pertinent to mention here that such a feat was never ever attempted or accomplished earlier by any team or individual within a time limit of 24 hours, therefore this achievement goes down in to the history of cycling in Ladakh.
Ladakh Cycling Club is a first of its kind Club in Ladakh which works towards promotion of cycling among the locals and youths as a way of healthy lifestyle and we hope to see more youngsters joining the club in the near future and setting newer and greater records in the field of cycling.
