JAMMU, Mar 22: Law School defeated Chemistry Department in the finals and lifted the title trophy of the Table Tennis event, organized during Inter-Department Tournament (Women) by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Gymnasium Hall today.
During the finals of the Table Tennis event, Deepanshi Ishar of Law School beat Komika Sharma by 11-5 and 11-3, while Bhuvneshwari Bali lost to Samriti Sharma of Chemistry Department by 3-11 and 4-11. In doubles, Deepanshi and Bhuvneshwari trounced Komika and Samriti of Chemistry Department by 11-4 and 11-6 and lifted the title trophy of the event.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Chemistry Department thrashed MCA by straight 2-0 sets. Komika Sharma beat Aarushi Bhagat by 11-3, 11-5 and Samriti Sharma outplayed Namita Sharma of Chemistry Department by 11-1 and 11-3.
In Carom, Physical Education Department beat Commerce Department by 2-1 and pocketed the title trophy. Jyoti Devi of Physical Education Department beat Syed Farhat, Samdeep Kour lost to Praitibha Heer of Commerce Department. In doubles, Jyoti and Samdeep beat Praitibha Heer and Syed Farhat of Commerce Department.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Physical Education Department beat MCA Department by 2-1 and entered into the finals. Jyoti Devi beat Rinkal Charak of MCA Department, Samdeep Kour of Physical Education Department lost to Askhima Chadah. In doubles, Jyoti and Samdeep beat Rinkal and Ashima of MCA Department.
In the second semifinal, Commerce Department thrashed Statistics by straight 2-0 and sailed into finals. Pratibha Heer of Commerce Department routed Ruchi Kumari and Syed Forhal thrashed Palal Kapoor.
In Badminton, Law School thrashed Law Department by straight 2-0 and claimed the title trophy. Deepansi Ishar of Law School beat Heena Sharma by 21-7 and Antra Pandit routed Upasana Gupta of Law Department by 21-15.
Earlier, in the semis, Law Department outplayed MCA Department by 2-0 and registered their birth in the finals. Upasana Gupta of Law Department beat Namita Sharma by 21-18 and Heena Sharma beat Akshma Chadha of MCA Department by 21-16.
In Chess, MCA beat Library Science by 1-0 in the semifinals and advanced to the finals.
The officials during the aforesaid events were Ravish Vaid, Amit Sharma, Sandeep, Pankaj Kumar, Taran Pal Singh and Anil Kumar.
