KV Samba holds Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Dec 7: Kendriya Vidyalaya Samba celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great zeal and enthusiasm, transforming the school premises into a vibrant arena of athletic spirit and cultural pride. The event was held under the guidance of Brig. Shalabh Pun, whose presence added dignity and motivation to the occasion. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp to invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.
A melodious welcome song set a warm tone for the day, followed by a colourful cultural presentation that showcased diverse dance forms from across India, beautifully embodying the theme of unity in diversity. A proud moment came when Ankit, a Class 12 student, was honoured for securing 3rd position in the Under-19 Taekwondo category at the National Sports Meet held in Bangalore. He was awarded Rs 5000 for his remarkable achievement.
Principal Gurnam Singh welcomed the chief guest and highlighted the importance of sports in student life. Brig. Pun, in his inspiring address, encouraged young athletes to embrace discipline, determination and team spirit.
A wide range of athletic events was organised for both primary and secondary students. Primary children enthusiastically participated in the lemon and spoon race, frog race and sack race, while secondary students competed in 100m, 600m and 1500m races, as well as the energetic team event of Kabaddi. A special attraction was a lively Hula Hoop performance by the teaching staff, which delighted the audience.
The programme was smoothly anchored by Manisha Salathia and Bhawna Sharma. Ajit Singh Rawat delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the collective efforts of students, teachers and organizers. Refreshments were arranged for all students, concluding a memorable day celebrating sportsmanship and unity.
