K’taka beat J&K by innings & 30 run

KARNATAKA, Jan 7:
Defending champions Karnataka continued its strong run drubbing Jammu and Kashmir by an innings and 30 runs on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Élite Group A tie played here to etch its fourth consecutive win in the current season.
The Host’s win was never in doubt after it gained a huge 263- run first innings lead amassing 423/9 declared in the first innings on the second day yesterday, after restricting the visitors to 160 in the first knock.
Needing 263 to avert a follow on after resuming the second innings at 37/1, Jammu and Kashmir wilted under the barrage of the Karnataka pace battery and were all out for 233.
S Arvind (3/48), R Vinay Kumar 3/53 and A Mithun 3/55 hastened the end.
25-year-old Inder Dev Singh (94) raised the lone battle for J and K as the visitors fell to sustained pace and accurate bowling by Karnataka speedsters.
Inder added 64 runs for the third wicket with opener Adil Reshi (36). But once the right hander fell just six runs short of century being bowled by Vinay, the slide began and Jammu and Kashmir were bundled out for 233 in 66.2 overs. (UNI)
