KT Lions, Jaguars Cricket Club to lock horns in finals

JAMMU, May 9: The stage is set for a thrilling finale in the Ashok Sodhi Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Press Club of Jammu in the memory of Daily Excelsior Photo Journalist Ashok Sodhi, as KT Lions Cricket Club (KTLCC) and Jaguars Cricket Club (JCC) emerged victorious in their respective semi-final matches at the Parade Ground here today.
KT Lions CC won the nail-biting contest against Game Changers Cricket Club by just one run, while Jaguars Cricket Club defeated Panthal Cricket Club by five wickets in the final over of the second semi-final match. The final match between KT Lions and Jaguars Cricket Club will be played on Saturday at MA Stadium, Jammu, under lights.
Senior journalist Vinod Kumar was present at the venue who appreciated all the teams for their performances and encouraged the players to give their best in the final match. He also inaugurated the semi-final match by performing the ceremonial toss.
In the first match, KT Lions batted first and scored 167 runs, with Sahil Kumar contributing 32 runs and Varun scoring 31 runs and taking two wickets. Game Changers Cricket Club tried to chase down the target but fell short by just one run. Gourav Manhas was the top scorer with 58 runs, while Shankar and Gourav took two wickets each. Varun was declared as Man of the Match for his all-round performance.
In the second match, Panthal Cricket Club batted first and scored 154 runs in 20 overs, with Shiv Kumar scoring 36 runs and Ajeet taking two wickets. Ayub also took one wicket. Jaguars Cricket Club chased down the target, winning by five wickets in the last over of the match. Chamkor was the top scorer with 48 runs, while Robin contributed 40 runs. Tabu was the star of the show, taking five wickets and earning the player of the Match award.
