AKHNOOR, Dec 11: Defeating ACC Jourian by a narrow margin of 7 runs in the summit clash, Krishna Cricket Club Akhnoor won the title trophy of Akhnoor Premier League 2016, organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Govt Higher Secondary School, here.
Earlier, KCC won the toss and decided to bat first. KCC scored a modest total of 130 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Pankaj was the top scorer with 25 runs, while Akash and Deepak contributed 19 and 16 runs to the total respectively. For ACC Jourian, Arvind was the pick of the bowlers, scalping 3 important wickets, Dinesh got 2 wickets, while Chikku and Arjun shared one wicket each.
In reply, ACC Jourian managed to score 123 runs in 18.4 overs by losing all the wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 7 runs. Kavi, Billa and Arvind were the main contributors with 24, 19 and 18 runs respectively. For KCC Akhnoor Bonny took 3 wickets, Gautam 2, while Vipin and Parveen shared one wicket each. For his brilliant performance, Bonny was declared as man of the match, while Arvind Sharma was adjudged as man of the series.
The match was officiated by Rjinder Sharma and Lucky as umpires, while Ashu was the scorer, while the Tournament was organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor in collaboration with Little Flower School Akhnoor, under the overall supervision of Sham Singh Langeh, president Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
DK Kapoor, retired Judge and president Akhnoor Sports Club was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams, besides individual prizes among the players of both the teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kapoor advised the players to participate in more and more sports and allied activities and avoid drugs to be healthy. He said sports and games, apart from inculcating discipline and spirit among the youth also builds their character.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Romesh, Dr Vidya Sagar, Surinder Khajuria, Vishnukant Sharma, Joginder Magotra, Krishan Kumar, Raman Gupta, Deepak Mani and Deepak Magotra.
