KPs protest on homeland day

JAMMU, Dec 28:A protest demonstration was also held by Panun Kashmir led by Ashwani Chrungoo in front of Press Club here today in commemoration of Homeland Day.
The demonstration was led by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo president of the organization and others who addressed in it included ASKPC president H L Chatta, Non Camp Union chairman, D N Kissu and national spokesperson PK Virender Raina.
The protestors raised slogans in support of homeland and Margdarshan resolution. They said it was on the basis of the Margdarshan resolution that the basic tenets of the political struggle for Kashmiri Pandit community were laid out. The commemoration of the day reaffirms the faith that the community has reposed in Margdarshan resolution over the years.
In his address Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said the time has come to revisit the homeland resolution as this is the only solution that can address the geo-political aspirations of the displaced community in back drop of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
H L Chatta president ASKPC said the displaced community is on the roads for last one year struggling for the enhancement of relief. He accused the Government of politicking over the issue and the neglect and apathy that the KPs have faced over the years has given the impression that they are a `persona non grata’ in their own state.
Virender Raina said that KPs along with other nationalist forces are systematically and under a design being eased out form the politico-administrative set up of the state while D N Kissu said the economic rehabilitation of the community is the fundamental duty of the Government.
Among others who attended the demonstration included Upinder Kaul, R K Raina, Prof G L Kaul, Subash Chatta, Kamal Bhagati, Ramesh Kaul, Samir Bhat, and Vijay Qazi. Besides Sunil Raina and Ajay Bhat along with their team from Jagti participated in the demonstration.
