KATHUA, Feb 27: Kartar Public School, (CBSE) hosted a grand function in the school premises, here today.
The ‘Tribal Festival-2018’ was organized by the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (Ministry of Culture, Govt of India) in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu.
This is for the first time that a cultural festival of this level was hosted in the district. People attended in large numbers and appreciated the programme.
Talented artists from ten states of India presented native dance forms during the festival.
The audiences were enthralled when they witnessed colourful and native dances presented by artists from Himachal Pradesh (Gaddi), Chattisgarh (Kaksar), West Bengal (Santhali), Punjab (Sammi), Odisha (Durna), Sikkim (Tamanysello), Tripura (Hazagiri), Rajasthan (Chakri), Jammu and Kashmir (Dhamali) and Gujarat (Rathwa).
The festival was inaugurated by Harpreet Kaur, Secretary of Kartar Public School and the chief guest was Sardar Ranjit Singh, Patron, Kartar Education Trust.
Sardar Jagjit Singh, Cultural Secretary, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala and Dr Sudhir Mahajan, a large number of VIPs, parents, citizens, students and media personnel were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Er Nirmaljit Singh Amn, Chairman of Kartar Public School, thanked the organizers, the North Zone Cultural Centre and the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for choosing KPS as the venue.
He said that India is a vast country with diversity in culture, language and belief, adding such cultural festivals foster and promote national and cultural integration.
