Kishtwar boys lift U-19 Tennis Ball Cricket title

JAMMU, Oct 13: Scripting a resounding win by 6 wickets over District Rajouri in the summit clash, District Kishtwar lifted the Under-19 boys Tennis Ball Cricket Trophy, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at MA Stadium, here.
Ashok Kumar, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu was the chief guest on valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners up team on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Kumar advised the students to take part in the games with sporting spirit and said that winning and losing is part of the game and the only thing needed is application, which is the name of the game.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Rajouri scored 40 runs in the stipulated 6 overs. Sultan and Nadeem contributed 14 and 13 runs to the total respectively. Bhuran was pick of the bowlers for Kishtwar, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Mubashar claimed one wicket.
In reply, Kishtwar chased the target in 5.3 overs, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Bhuran was the top scorer with 23 runs while Arslan contributed 14 runs to the total. Gulbash and Sultan claimed one wicket each for Rajouri. For his superb all-round performance Bhuran was adjudged man of the match, while Henan of Kishtwar was declared man of the series.
Earlier, in the first semifinal, Rajouri thrashed Jammu by 19 runs in an easy contest. Bating first, Rajouri scored 44 runs, while Jammu bundled out for paltry 25 runs, Sultan scored 26 runs for Rajouri.
In another semifinal, Kishtwar defeated Reasi by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Reasi scored 46 runs in 6 overs, which Kishtwar chased in just 4 overs, losing one wicket in the process and won the match by 19 runs. Henan played a brilliant innings of 38 runs for Rajouri.
Earlier, in the remaining pool matches, Kishtwar thrashed Jammu by 8 wickets, while Rajouri outplayed Doda by 27 runs.
The matches were officiated by Jagtar Singh, Saleem-ur-Rehman, Suresh Singh, Madan Mohan and Pankaj Sasan.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Zonal Physical Education Officers Sarita Pandha, Pushpa Sharma and Manorama Sharma, besides Jaswant Singh and Veena Tickoo.
