JAMMU, May 17: Khalsa Hockey Club, Gol Gujral emerged victorious and lifted the title of the ongoing Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji 7-A Side Night Hockey Tournament 2026 after defeating Sahil Hockey Club, Gol Gujral in a thrilling tie-breaker in the final match played amid huge enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
The high-voltage final witnessed an impressive turnout of hockey lovers and local residents, who cheered both teams throughout the match and added to the electrifying atmosphere at the venue.
MLA Arvind Gupta attended the final as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners, runners-up, officials and members of the tournament management committee.
Congratulating both teams and organisers, Arvind Gupta said that such sporting events play a vital role in promoting youth talent, discipline and brotherhood in society. He appreciated the organisers for successfully conducting the tournament and encouraging young players to participate in sports activities.
“Sports not only keep youth physically fit but also help channel their energy in a positive direction. Hockey has a glorious legacy in the country and such tournaments help revive and strengthen that spirit at the grassroots level,” he said.
The tournament is being organised by Khalsa Club Gol Gujral under the aegis of Hockey J&K and the J&K Sports Council. The organising committee includes Iqbal Singh (Chief Patron), MS Reen (General Secretary), President Satvir Singh Satti, Harkirat Singh, Harpreet Singh, Harjit Singh, Surinder Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Inderpal Singh and Karanjit Singh.
Among others present on the occasion were PP Singh (ex-Sarpanch), Harmohinder Singh (Dy Director), RS Soodan, Janak Singh, Rajinder Singh, Joginder Singh Jinda, Manjit Singh, TP Singh, Gurdeep Singh and several veteran hockey players, besides Manpreet Singh Kamal, Ranjit Singh (President Gurudwara) and Narinder Singh Neena (President Gurudwara Singh Sabha).
