JAMMU, Mar 15: One day National Seminar entitled ‘Teacher Education in Indian Perspective’ was organized by KCS College of Education (Women), Paloura, here today.
The seminar was inaugurated by College president US Chaudhri in presence of P Chaudhri, chairperson of the College, Prof Lokesh Koul, Prof Romesh Verma, Prof Renu Nanda, Dr SK Bawa, Dr Deepa Sikad and Dr Manju Aggarwal.
Earlier, Prof Romesh Verma, Head Department (M Ed wing) of KCS College of Education presented welcome address and expressed his indebtedness towards Prof Lokesh Koul, Prof Emeritus, HP University Shimla, Prof Renu Nanda, Department of Education, University of Jammu, Dr SK Bawa, Associate Professor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr Deepa Sikand, MGN College of Education Jallandhar and the faculty of B Ed and M Ed.
Prof Lokesh Koul, in his key note address dealt at length about development of teacher education in Indian perspective, which he said can be described in three stages: Physical growth in terms of number of institutions which have taken place during pre-independence period; diversification of teacher education programmes that took place across different stages of education such as pre-school, primary, secondary and higher secondary and teacher education that emerged in specific areas of specialization like Science, Education, Mathematics etc.
The deliberation of the Seminar was held in four sessions, which were chaired by Dr SK Bawa, Dr Deepa Sikand, Dr Manju Aggarwal and Prof Darshana Sharma.
Dr Ashok Pandita, Dr Bharti Punj were the Seminar reporters, while Sunita K Sharma and Dr Akanksha Srivastava were the compeerers.
42 participants from 14 Colleges of Jammu division participated in the Seminar and presented their papers on different themes.
Valedictory session was chaired by Prof Darshana Sharma, DDE University of Jammu, while P Chaudhri and US Chaudhri presented vote of thanks.
