KCPS students win awards in Russian Painting Competition

JAMMU, Oct 4: In celebration of birthdays of Russia’s legendary cosmonauts Andrian Nikolaev and Yuri Gagarin and the launch of India’s Chandrayaan II Moon Mission 2019, a Painting Competition for the children of Russia and India was organized by Andrian Nikolaev Space Museum (Shorshely), Chuvashia, Russia recently.
47 students from KC Public School took part in the contest and 14 of them were awarded special diplomas for featuring among top 3 position holders under different age groups.
Mishika Mittal in the 12-14 age group and Aanya Gupta and Qudsia in the 9-11 age group won the first positions and 11 other children, namely, Aashima Soni, Vedanshi Tickoo, Aarush Sharma, Rouvin Koul, Nihal Kour, Sourish Kesar, Kamakshi Gupta, Manav Gupta, Reeya Rehan and Aadhar Kapoor won other positions.
The theme of the paintings was ‘Mysterious Space’.
A special awards presentation ceremony was held at the Round Square Centre for all participants and winners in this international contest.
Viacheslav Platonov, a technical expert from Russia, was the special guest on the occasion. He has stayed in Jammu on special duty from his country for a few months in the past 2 years and has played a stellar role in initiating and promoting collaborative activities between the children of India and Russia under ‘Citizen Diplomacy in Action’ programme.
22 paintings of KCPS students were showcased for public in Russia and the same number of paintings by Russian children was put on exhibition for the public of Jammu in the Art Gallery of KCPS.
During the ceremony, Platonov put on display some short videos on space exploration missions carried out by Russia and India.
Thereafter, he gave away participation certificates and special Diplomas to the winners.
In his valedictory speech, he thanked Arti Chowdhary, Managing Director of the school, and Principal Amarendra Kumar Mishra for their cooperation and support in his mission to build bridges of friendship between the children of India and Russia.
