JAMMU, July 22: Outplaying almost equally strong National Cricket Club (NCC) in a close contest in the summit clash, star-studded Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) lifted the title trophy of the Jammu District JKCA Premier Championship, organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
The Championship was held under the overall supervision of retired Judge, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, Member JKCA Committee of Members.
Rain played spoilsport as it interrupted the match and washed out the field when NCC while chasing a total of 197 runs, needed 22 runs in the last over with 2 wickets in hand.
The match was awarded to KCCC for having better average to emerge champion. However, due to heavy rain, the Prize Distribution function was not held on the occasion and the organisers have decided to hold the same shortly.
“Due to heavy rains, we were not in a position to hold Prize Distribution ceremony. We have decided to hold it shortly and separately,” said Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal.
Earlier, batting first, KCCC scored a good total of 196 runs in the stipulated 30 overs. Bandeep Singh top scored with 69 runs off 41 balls, studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Jatin Wadhawan and Sahil Lotra contributed 31 runs each. Skipper Manik Gupta scored 17 runs, while Raman Thaploo contributed unbeaten 12 runs to the total. Yatin Saberwal took 2 wickets for NCC.
In reply, NCC managed to score 174 runs in 29 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Gokul Baru top scored with 37 runs, while Sahil Bhalwal contributed brisk 33 runs to the total. Manish Dogra chipped in with 22 runs, while Aditya Pratap and Abdul Samad contributed 17 and 12 runs to the total respectively. Ramdayal, Saawan and Vishal claimed 1 wicket each for KCCC. Ankush Abrol, Working Committee Member JKCA is the mentor of KCCC, while Ashok Kumar is the coach.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Saleem-ur-Rehman and Rahul.
