JAMMU, Oct 27: Khalsa Cricket Club (KCC) remained better of Media-XI Cricket Club Jammu by 7 wickets in the inaugural match of the 3rd Sikh Premier League organized by Khalsa Cricket Club Jammu at Baba Jhule Shah Ground, Talab Tillo, Jammu, here today.
Bating first after winning the toss, Media-XI led by skipper Rahul Khatri posted 151 runs on scoreboard at the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Amit Kumar (73 runs off 48 balls) was the top scorer for Media XI CC, while Sunil Bali (16 runs off 22 balls) and Nitin Kanotra (15 runs in 19 balls) were the other major contributors for Media XI CC.
For KCC, Surinder Singh (Lovloo), Prithpal Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Harinderpal Singh (Bawa) shared wicket apiece.
Chasing the target, KCC led by skipper Surinder Singh (Lovloo) chased down the target in 15 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Harinderpal Singh (Bawa) played with sheer flamboyance as he took opponent bowlers to the task and garnered 62 runs of 37 balls. Surinder Singh (Lovloo) scored 27 runs in 19 balls and Kawalpreet also contributed with 15 runs in 9 balls. For Media XI CC, Skipper Rahul Khatri, Ranjeet Singh and Jagdeep Singh shared wicket apiece.
Harinderpal Singh (Bawa) was declared as man of the match for his splendid batting performance.
At the end of the match, prizes were distributed among players by Gurdeep Singh Bakshi, General Secretary J&K State Hockey Association, who was also the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Bakshi appreciated Khalsa Cricket Club for organizing sports ventures and motivating the youth towards the sports.
He urged upon the Govt administration headed by Governor Satya Pal Malik to allocate adequate budget for development of sports infrastructure in the rural belts.
