Kavinder urges youth to take sports as career

*Iknoor drubs Divyani in Jr girls singles final

JAMMU, Aug 31: Sports and Games serve for delight, for ornament and for agility, besides helping one to be fit and healthy. In modern era sports is the best career option as the Government is committed to promote sports and sportspersons in India.
This was stated by Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta during valedictory function of 3rd 11 Sports Table Tennis Championship, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
He said that the State Government has appointed a good number of outstanding sportspersons in various departments, besides giving them incentives for their achievements.

He urged upon the local youth to take sports as their career, adding that the State Government is focused to raise sufficient sports infrastructure in the State to develop sports culture.
The Speaker was accompanied by Vice Chairman J&K State Sports Council, Jammu, Ranjeet Kalra, Joint Secretary Sports Council Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Manager Indoor Complex, Satish Gupta.
Earlier, on the concluding day today, the semifinals and finals were played, wherein the peddlers displayed extraordinary skill to take the top honours.
In Junior boys team championship, Jodhamal Public school beat KV No-1 by 3-1 in the finals, while in Senior boys singles final, Saksham got better of Hanumant (3-1), while in senior boys team championship summit clash, KC Public School defeated Udhampur by (3-1).
Earlier, in senior boys semifinals, Saksham thrashed Mahi Kailu 3-0 and Hanumat drubbed Ojaswin 3-0.
In senior girls singles finals, Mehak outplayed Vidushi 3-0, while in semifinals in this category, Mehak outclassed Nandika 3-1 and Vidushi defeated Ishita 3-0.
In junior girls singles finals,  Iknoor trounced Divyani 3-1, while in the semifinals, Iknoor beat Ragini 3-0 and Divyani prevailed over Gouri 3-0.
