JAMMU, Feb 8: Katra FC and FC United Kathua registered wins over Jammu United FC and Churchill Bros. by 1 goal to nil and 2 goals to 1 respectively in the ongoing 1st Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Football Tournament, here today.
The tournament is being organized by Shaheen Football Club under the aegis of J&K Football Association (DFA Jammu) at GGM Science College Football Ground, Jammu.
In the first match, Katra FC defeated Jammu United FC by 1-0 and Vinay was the only player who scored a goal in the 43rd minute for Katra FC, while in the 2nd match, FC United Kathua registered an emphatic win over Churchill Bros by 2 goals to 1. The goals were secured by Kapil and Aryan of FC United Kathua, whereas Steve netted a goal in 43rd minute for Churchill Bros.
The national and international players witnessed the matches along with Narinder Gupta, Showkat Khanyari, David Masih, Yousaf Don, Clint Mattoo, Kamaljeet Kumar, Rajesh Sumbria, Rakesh Kumar, Peter Sandhu and Ramesh Chander (Org. Secretary and International Player).
DFA Poonch will lock horns against Baba FC at 1 pm and Param FC have to face National FC at 3:00 pm tomorrow.
Ricky, Satnam Singh, Aman Sudan and Shivam acted as referees.
