KATHUA, Aug 25: Kathua Zone emerged overall winner in U-19 Cricket and Judo events, organized during the ongoing U-19 Inter School, Zone, District Level Tournament for boys and girls by Department of Youth Services and Sports at Sports Stadium here today.
Zone Kathua won the cricket trophy by defeating Zone Billawar by 33 runs.
Batting first, Kathua Zone scored 75 runs in 15 overs. The Billawar team failed to chase the target and bundled out at 42 runs.
In Judo (boys), Rehmat Ali of GHSS Kathua secured Gold medal and Mushtaq Ahmed of GHSS Jakhbar claimed silver medal in below 40 kg, whereas in below 45 kg, Bhag Hussain of G HSS Kathua and Anku Kumar of GHSS Airwan claimed gold and silver medals.
In below 50 kg, Bhuru Sen of GHSS Kathua secured gold medal, whereas Pankaj of GHSS Nagri claimed silver medal, in below 55 kg, Hitesh Singh of Little Angel HSS Kathua and Shub Ashish of RSJN Kathua claimed gold and silver medals.
In below 60 kg, Mohd Yunas of GHSS Kathua and Lovely Sharma of GHSS Kthera claimed gold and silver medals, in below 65 kg, Shafi Din of GHSS Kathua and Rohit Kumar of GHSS Jkhbar bagged gold and silver medals, in below 71 kg, Rajan Singh Saini of GHSS Nagri claimed Gold medal and Suryansh Sadotra of Little Angel HSS Kathua bagged silver medal.
In above 71 kg, Jyotier Aditya of DPS Rajbhag claimed Gold medal and Chandan Singh of St Xavier Hatli secured Silver medal.
In Judo (Girls), Amisha and Tamna of GGHSS Kathua claimed Gold and silver medals respectively, in below 40 kg, Darshna and Shiv Lata got first and second positions respectively, in below 44 kg, Manisha of GHSS Nagri and Simran of GGHSS Kathua got first and second positions respectively.
In below 48 kg, Monika and Reempi of GGHSS Kathua got first and second position respectively, in below 52 kg, Asha of GHSS Nagri secured Gold medal Renu of GHSS Kthera claimed Silver medal, in below 56 kg and 61 kg, Raj Kumari and Sugam Pathania of GGHSS Kathua remain first.
The matches were officiated by Mohan Lal Dub, Rakesh Kumar Raju, Sandeepan Sharma, Rajive Kumar, Pankaj Sapolia, Mandeep Singh.
The activity incharge namely Kuldeep Singh, Joginder Kumar, Parvaat Singh, Tilak Raj, Sanjeev Sunny and Omkar Singh were also present.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Sunil Kumar, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua. The today’s events were managed by Rajesh Kumar, ZPEO and Punjab Singh, PEM. Sukesh Kumar, ZPEO, Tilak Raj, PEM, besides large number of spectators were also present on the occasion.
