Kashmir division scripts 33-run win in U-16 cricket

JAMMU, Nov 3: Kashmir division boys trounced Jammu division by 33 runs in the Inter-Division Under-16 boys Cricket Tournament, which got underway at High School Jammu Cantonment, here today.
The tournament was declared open by Jaipal Singh, Director Youth Services and Sports in a simple function today. He was accompanied by the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Tirath Ram on the occasion.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Kashmir division scored 110 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Muzammil was top scorer with 30 runs, while Dawar and Rashid contributed 25 and 27 runs to the total respectively. Ankush was the wrecker-in-chief for Jammu division, who captured 4 important wickets by conceding 12 runs in his 4 overs.
Jammu division, in reply managed to score 77 runs in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 33 runs. Syed Payember (18) and Hanan (13) were the main contributors. Sabzar was pick of the bowlers for Kashmir division, who took 3 wickets by giving away just 3 runs in his 4 overs, while Shahid and Barkat claimed 2 wickets each.
The matches were officiated by Suresh Singh, Jagtar Singh, Pankaj Sasan, Madan Mohan and Mukesh Sharma.
Meanwhile, in Under-17 boys hockey, Jammu Division held Kashmir Division to (1-1) draw.
