Kanhaiya, Musaif tons guide J&K towards victory by inning & 76 runs

JAMMU, Nov 28: Centuries by Kanhaiya (117) and Musaif Ajaz not out (100) helped host Jammu and Kashmir beat Goa by an inning and 76 runs on Day-3 of four-day Cooch Behar Under-19 Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today.
Resuming at their overnight score of 290 runs, J&K scored 351 runs in 120.4 overs on day 3rd taking a lead of 169 runs against Goa’s 182 runs in the first innings.
Musaif Ajaz, who was playing on 78 runs yesterday, remained unbeaten on 100, while Kanhaiya scored 117 off 176 balls putting the host team in a solid position.
Govind Sharma (35), Qamran Iqbal (36), Abdul Samad (5), Ziyad Nazir and Magray also contributed 10 runs each to pile up J&K’s total.
For Goa side, Rutvik Mehta was on fire and claimed six-wicket haul whereas Chauhan clinched two, Rahul Mehta and Shanu shared one wicket apiece.
Putting the visitors Goa to bat in their second inning with a lead of 169 runs, J&K bowlers crippled Goa inning on 93 runs in 45.1 overs and put themselves in commanding position besides adding seven points to its kitty.
Shubham and Aalam Khan were the main scorers for Goa side with 27 and 26 runs respectively, while Mohit, Piyush Yadav and Rahul Mehta followed them with 11, 10 and 9 runs respectively.
J&K’s Govind Sharma and Vikrant Sharma did the damage to visitors side by claiming four wickets each (25 runs, 9 overs), (14 runs, 7.1 overs) and Rasikh Aalam bagged two wickets.
