JU’s Youth Festival ‘Sangam’ concludes

BHADERWAH, Dec 3: The Three day Youth Festival ‘Sangam’ concluded here today with the distributions of prizes among the winners and participants.
The Youth Festival was organized by Bhaderwah Campus in collaboration with 4 Rastryia Rifles (Bihar) to promote everlasting peace and prosperity in the Chenab Valley.
The Closing Ceremony of the mega event was organized in presence of chief guest, General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) and Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof G M Bhat.
The event witnessed participation of around 400 students and teachers from 8 Colleges including Bhadarwah Campus, University of Jammu, Islamia Faridia College, Kishtwar, Government Degree Colleges of Bhadarwah, Doda, Kisthwar, Kilotran, Marwah and Chhatru and 8 Schools of Bhadarwah including 2 Government Higher Secondary Schools and 6 Private Schools
The mega event ‘Sangam’ was inaugurated by Professor R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University on December, 1, 2014 in presence of a large number of Civil and Military dignitaries and Principals, teachers and students from participating colleges/Schools.
Students from local schools showcased their skills in dancing and singing on the day of Opening Ceremony of the event.
During the Closing Ceremony the Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah in his address highlighted the aspect of return of normalcy in the region which was evident from the enthusiastic participation of the students from various colleges including the girl students.
The General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), who was the Chief Guest in his address stressed on empowerment of youth and the role, the Army can play in achieving the same.
The Closing Ceremony ended with prize distribution to all the students, including winners and runners-up teams and players.
The overall runners-up trophy was bagged by Govt Degree College Kilhotran while the winners were Bhaderwah Campus..
Prof G M Bhat, Rector, Bhadarwah Campus, in his address said, “Through Sadhbhavana, Army not only contributed to the development in infrastructure including institutions but also has taken up the development of youth through sports, educational and allied activities”.
MA English student of Bhaderwah Campus, Farhat Jahan topped the medal tally with four gold and one silver.
The Civil Administration and local populace were thankful to the Army for providing such unique opportunity to the students of the Chenab Valley.
