JU’s Fencing team qualifies for Khelo-India Games

JAMMU, Jan 9: Fencing team of University of Jammu (JU) qualified for Khelo-India University Games after winning three bronze medals in recently held All India Inter-University Fencing Championship 2021-22 at Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar from January 7 to 10.
The Khelo-India University Games is scheduled to be held at Bangalore.
Sabre girls team who clinched bronze medals including Jaspreet Kour, Riya Manhas, Mokshika Rana and Simran Rajput, while the boys team who bagged bronze in Epee boys including Parvinder Sharma, Sawan Mangotra, Gourav Thakur and Harsh Singh and Sabre boys team who won bronze medal including Udhayveer Singh Chandel, Lakshay Sharma, Suryansh Sharma and Siddhant Raina.
The Foil boys team qualified for Khelo India University Games including Parshant Chib, Gourav Thakur, Parvinder Sharma and Sawan Mnagotra, whereas Udhayveer Singh Chandel also qualified for the upcoming event in Sabre individual boys category.
Director Physical Education and Sports, JU Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba was also present on the occasion as observer from AIU for the Championship who was accompanied by Padam Dev Singh, In-charge Fencing event of Jammu University.
The Fencing team was accompanied by Ajay Kumar and Mokshi Sharma as coaches while Anthony Mattoo as team manager.
