JAMMU, Mar 11: The University of Jammu has brought pride to the region by securing first position in Photography and second position in Installation at national level.
Among the 300 participating universities from across India, only 100 made it to the National Youth Festival, where they showcased their best talents in 27 competitive events.
Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, felicitated the award-winning cultural contingent of the University that represented the varsity at 38th Inter-University National Youth Festival organized by Amity University, Noida, under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
Expressing delight over the students’ outstanding performance, Prof. Rai said that the University of Jammu is committed to promote a culture of artistic excellence and overall development.
He congratulated winning students, Kamran Latief Naik (Photography), Nikhil Singh, Poonam Sambyal, Riya Chib and Janvi (Installation), for their remarkable achievements.
The VC also appreciated the dedicated efforts of Dean Students Welfare, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, the Fine Arts Faculty of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts and the mentors Yogesh Manhas, Vikas Dogra and Jaswinder Singh for guiding and training the students.
Dr. Tsering Yangzom and Sumeet Sharma were the team in-charges.
The cultural events at the University were conceptualized, planned and executed by a team comprising Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. A.R Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur and Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Dean, SW), members of the Campus Cultural Committee, Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer).
