JAMMU, Nov 12: The men’s team of University of Jammu defeated Kurukshetra University in a thrilling contest by (31-30) to advance in the ongoing North Zone Inter-University Handball Championship, being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education at its Sports Stadium, here.
In another match of men’s section Punjabi University, Patiala defeated Panjab University, Chandigarh by (33-22).
In the women’s section, Panjab University, Chandigarh trounced Delhi University Sports Council by (21-18), while Punjabi University, Patiala drubbed LPU Phagwara by (32-21).
On the second day today, Dr S M Bali, General Secretary South Asian Handball Federation, Joint Secretary, Indian Olympic Association and Chief Executive Officer, Handball Federation of India was the chief guest, who was welcomed by the Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education.
The chief guest interacted with players of both the teams on the occasion.
The University of Jammu Handball (Men) team is being coached by Dev Raj, coach Handball Federation of India.
The official of the matches include Anoop Singh, Karamveer Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Vikas Sharma, Karun Magotra, Govind Ram, Prabhleen Kour, Priya Charak, Bhanu Priya, Roshni Sharma, Pooja Sharma and Ashish Dogra and Rahul Bakshi.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of Prof Bhau.
