JAMMU, June 2: The University of Jammu Employees Cricket (Men) Tournament 2026-27 continued with great enthusiasm and competitive spirit on the second day at the University grounds. The tournament is being organized under the aegis of the Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu, under the leadership of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Chairman, Campus Sports Committee and Raj Kumar Bakshi, In-charge PTI and Cricket Coach.
The event aims to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, team spirit and healthy interaction among teaching and non-teaching employees of the university.
In the first match of the day, Team F registered a comprehensive 69-run victory over Team E. Batting first, Team F amassed an imposing 217/6 in 20 overs, courtesy a magnificent unbeaten 148-run knock by Shantul. Abhinav Sharma chipped in with 38 runs, while Raj Singh contributed 12. For Team E, Karan, Gagan and Ameet claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Team E managed 154/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Surjeet Kumar top-scored with 39 runs, while Vikas Karlopia and Harsh added 30 and 21 runs respectively. Team F bowlers kept things tight, with Abhinav taking two wickets and Shantul, Rajat, Vijay, Dil Bahadur and Gursharan claiming one wicket each.
The second match saw Team A defeat Team D after a strong all-round performance. Team D posted 139/8 in 20 overs, with Surinder Kumar scoring 58 runs and Manik and Sandeep Arya contributing 18 runs each. Ayush claimed three wickets, while Adil Amin picked up two.
Chasing the target, Team A reached 140 runs comfortably. Shami Kumar led the chase with 59 runs, while Ayush contributed 47. Surinder Kumar took two wickets for Team D. The matches were officiated by Vijay Kumar Raina, Ashok Singh and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
