JPL: SCC, D7 CC script wins in pre-qualifier matches

JAMMU, May 20: Singh Cricket Club (SCC) Akhnoor and D7 Cricket Club Jammu registered emphatic wins over Maharaja Cricket Club and Jammu strikers by 6 wickets and 8 wickets respectively in the pre-qualifier matches of Jammu Premier League (JPL), organised by the Indian Army’s White Knight at Country Cricket Ground, here today.
First match was played between D7 Cricket Club and Jammu Strikers Marh.
Batting first, Jammu Strikers made 122 runs by losing 9 wickets in 19 overs wherein Arjun made highest 24 runs, while Naveen and Damen Preet scored 23 runs each. From the bowling side, Bhumesh Bhat took 3 wickets, while Owais Parihar and Ankush Mohrad grabbed 2 and 1 wickets respectively. In reply, D7 Cricket Club chased the target easily by losing only 2 wickets in 17.3 overs and registered 8 wickets win over the Jammu Strikers wherein Shahzad Nayeem made unbeaten 63 runs, while Ravleen made 25 runs and Hasnain Shakeel remained not out on 12 runs. From the bowling side, Naveen and Vinayak claimed 1 wicket each.
In another match, SCC beat Maharaja CC by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Maharaja CC scored 111 runs by losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs wherein Abhishek Kumar made 35 runs, whereas Sourav Singh and Ajay Singh contributed 31 and 15 runs respectively. From the bowling side, Manav and Abhinandan claimed 3 wickets each, while Arush and Stephen took 1 wicket each.
In reply, SCC chased the target in 15 overs by losing only 4 wickets and registered 6 wickets win over Maharaja CC in which Rohit made highest 32 runs and Nitin scored 21 runs. From the bowling side, Jagmohan, Vishal, Sourav and Ayush clinched 1 wicket each.
Meanwhile, in Kathua Junior-XI Kathua trounced Champions Hiranagar by 12 runs in a thrilling match wherein Aryan Kumar was declared as Man of the Match for his outstanding performance with bat and ball (38 runs & 3 wickets).
Junior XI gave a target of 161 runs to Champions Hiranagar. The latter failed to chase the target.
In another match in Samba, Nud CC sailed into the finals of the ongoing Samba Premier League by defeating Virpur CC, being organised by Army at Talli Ground near Mansar Morh.
Batting first after winning the toss, Nud CC made a huge total of 243 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. Archit Mahajan made 31 runs, while Deepak contributed 28 runs, whereas Pryas and Sourav contributed 46 and 40 runs respectively for Virpur CC but could not chase the target.
Brij Mohan was awarded the best player of the match for scoring four wickets and 20 runs. KIMT Group Chairman Varinder Singh Salathia was the chief guest of the event.
