JAMMU, Aug 25: Jodhamal Public School organized a folk art programme “Taking Traditions to Schools”—a project under Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Scheme for safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage and Diverse Cultural Traditions of India funded by UNESCO.
The aim of this programme was to sensitize children about the rich cultural heritage of Jammu through performance-cum-demonstration of some of the selected folk songs including ‘karkaan’ by Girdhari Lal and Group.
The chief guest and expert to honour the occasion was Prof Lalit Magotra, Sahitya Academy Awardee and a Prominent Dogri Writer, whileas Balwant Thakur known as the Magic Man of Theatre was the resource person.
The traditional lighting of lamp was done by the dignitaries along with the Principal Trilok Singh Bist.
