JAMMU, May 31: Jodhamal Public School Jammu operated a ‘Youth Engaging Society (YES)’ centre in its School premises, here today.
The School launched the globally acclaimed youth empowerment ‘International Award For Young People in India (IAYP)’ in J&K and parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
The ‘YES’ centres are also operational in prominent institutions like Doon School, Welham School, Lawrence School, Sanawar and Assam Valley etc in India and in many top ranked schools abroad also. The establishment of this centre gives Jodhamal Public School a unique global linkage.
Three levels of awards including gold, silver and bronze are awarded by ‘The Duke of Edinburgh’s Foundation’ based in London. Three teachers from Jodhamal Public School would be going to the Doon School and Daly College in June for further training under this scheme.
Dr Chander Mohan Seth, WWF (J&K) Chairperson was the chief guest on the occasion, while the School Principal Trilok Singh Bist presided over the function, who while speaking on the occasion explained the ethos and concepts of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest applauded the school authorities for launching such an innovative programme in Jammu City.
Nandan Kuthiala, the guest of honour gave an account of the school’s desire in bringing innovation in the learning process of the children.
The programme concluded with a Dogri song presented by the students.
