JAMMU, June 15: It may sound bizarre but it is true that the premier body of sports (J&K Sports Council) has shortlisted three candidates for interview for coaching Korfball disciplines- the game is not recognised in Jammu and Kashmir and unrecognised by the International Federation of Korfball as well as Ministry of Youth Affair and Sports in the year of 2015.
The Council shortlisted these candidates for Korfball discipline in the said list at serial numbers 31, 32 and 33 for Khelo India District level Centres at Samba and Pulwama in its interview notification with vide order number: SC/37671/1036-39 dated 03/06/2021 in which total 52 candidates in different disciplines were shortlisted, but unfortunately the three candidates for which the game has been unrecognised by the International Korfball Federation.
“The KFI was unrecognised by the International Federation in the year of 2015 with loss of recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and unwillingness of the KFI (Korfball Federation of India) to adjust its statues in line with the Sports Code and lack of reporting and subscription payments towards the international federation and the same game is not recognised in the UT also and not even fall under SRO-349,” well placed sources informed Excelsior while wishing anonymity.
They further said that if the same game is not recognised in the J&K UT, then why the officials of the premier sports body are desperate to engage these candidates at two different Khelo India District level Centre i,e Samba and Pulwama. “It is still a million dollar question for sports lovers,” they added.
Another source alleged that ‘something fishy’ is going on in this whole interview process but the higher-ups become a mute spectator over the development and giving a dent to the impartial and transparent policy of recruitment, envisaged by the J&K Govt under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor.
In this regard, the journo repeatedly made calls to higher-ups and even placed written messages to the Secretary Sports Council and Administrative Officers but they didn’t respond.
Now, the sports lovers of the J&K appealed to the LG as well as the Commissioner Secretary to Government Youth Services and Sports for stopping the interview which is scheduled to be held tomorrow at Bakshi Stadium.
