JKP lifts 5th Christmas Gold Cup Football title

JAMMU, Jan 24: J&K Police drubbed J&K Food-Supplies by two goals to nil (2-0) in the summit clash to lift the 5th Christmas Gold Cup Football Tournament, which concluded at Mini Stadium Parade ground, here today.
24 teams participated in this fortnight-long tournament, which was organized by All J&K Christian Welfare Association from January 6, 2013.
Feroz Khan, Minister of State for Education and Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the occasion, while ADGP K Rajendra Kumar was the guest of honour, who later-on distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were DIGs Johnny Williams and C Punchok, Veena Handa, chairperson of Handa College of Education, Bishop NM Nisar, Rev CM Khanna, Pardeep Bali, SM Gill, president All J&K Christian Welfare Association, Feastus Sotra, general secretary and organizing secretaries David Massi and Yousuf Don.
Earlier, JKP players dominated from the word go but managed to score the first goal in 43rd minute of the match through Yaseen via penalty kick, just 2 minutes before the completion of the first half. In 59th minute of the match, JKP goalkeeper Reyaz made a valiant effort to stop the rivals from scoring an equalizer. Then, Tanvir of JKP pelted a superb field goal in 85th minute to give his side a decisive (2-0) lead. Finally JKP won by the same margin.
