*19 members including Mehboob, Rauf walkout from meeting

SRINAGAR, May 12: The Working Committee Members of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), all and sundry reposed faith in Dr Farooq Abdullah, president JKCA and requested him to continue the job despite his unwillingness for the same in the Working Committee Meeting regarding the election of the office bearers and other things as per the agenda at Lalit Grand, Gupkar Road, here today.
The election was held with Abdul Wahid Alakbandh, retired Principal and Sessions Judge as observer from the court.
However, as per the custom, Dr Farooq’s name was proposed by Captain SK Tickoo and seconded by Ramesh Mahajan, with all the members unanimously endorsing their proposal.
ML Nehru was unanimously elected as general secretary, while Arvinder Singh Micky was elected as chairman and Ghulam Mohd as treasurer. The names of these office bearers were proposed by Chaman Lal Chrangoo, Ravinder Singh and Sudershan Mehta and seconded by Rahul Bharti, Ashutosh Sharma and Moulvi Ajaz respectively.
While Rakesh Kumar and GM Ronga were elected as chairmen for Jammu and Kashmir wings respectively, Idrees Gandroo and Sudershan Mehta became joint secretaries of Kashmir and Jammu wings respectively. Their names were proposed by Mehboob-ul-Hassan, Parveen Kapahi, Anil Khajuria and Rahul Bharti and seconded by Ravinder Singh, Imtiyaz Ahmed Zargar, C L Suri and Kanaya Lal respectively.
Meanwhile, 19 Working Committee Members of JKCA including former chairman, Mehboob Iqbal and former general secretary, Abdul Rauf walked-out of the meeting amid slogans ‘keep the house in order’ and later-on protested against the conduct of elections at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.
Out of a total of 64 members, 45 members were present in the house, which unanimously took some important decisions with regard to functioning of JKCA.
A resolution with regard to getting back of the embezzled money in JKCA scam was passed which was duly signed by all the Working Committee Members.
The president and the Working Committee Members decided to make amendments in the constitution and framed a 5-member committee headed by senior Working Committee Member, Chaman Lal Chrangoo in this regard. General Secretary, M L Nehru will be the convener of the committee, while the other members will be treasurer, Ghulam Mohd, Rahul Bharti and Parveen Kapahi.
The Committee also decided to hire professional auditors to audit the accounts of JKCA.
The Working Committee also decided to make all the sub committees within a week’s time.
