J&K Wins Maiden 67th National School Games in Football

Srinagar, Nov 4: The 67th National School Games (NSG) concluded with an unforgettable day of sportsmanship, showcasing remarkable victories and historic moments. This prestigious event brought together talented young athletes from all corners of India, and their journey was marked by passion, dedication and exemplary performance.
In his congratulatory measage to Team J&K, Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary to Government Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K, stated that J&K youth is full of talent and they have yet again made us proud with this spectacular win.
Director YSS J&K, Subash Chander Chibber in his message to the Football and Volleyball teams said that the Department’s dedication and hard-work in organising the sports extravaganza was visible.
The NSG’s last day saw intense semifinal clashes that set the stage for the grand finals. In Football, J&K faced off against the formidable Kerala side. The match was a thriller, culminating in a hard-fought penalty shootout, with J&K emerging victorious with a 7-6 score at Polo Ground.
In another exciting semifinal, CISCE defeated Rajasthan at Green Valley Institute.
The Football finals took center stage under the dazzling lights of TRC Synthetic Turf. J&K scripted history by securing their first-ever NSG Football championship, defeating CISCE with a narrow scoreline of 1-0. Aditya Mahajan from J&K was hailed as the “Man of the Match” for his exceptional performance, while Owais Ayoub (J&K) was honored as the “Player of the Tournament” for his consistent excellence.
Volleyball brought its own share of thrills. J&K faced a setback in the semifinals against U.P. However, the team displayed exceptional resilience in the hardliner match against West Bengal, overcoming two straight set losses to secure the 3rd position in Volleyball.
The Volleyball finals witnessed an intense battle between U.P. and Rajasthan, with U.P. ultimately emerging victorious and clinching the trophy.
Joint Director Kashmir of the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K Waseem Raja’s enthusiastic support and encouragement was praised by one and all.
The NSG’s grand conclusion featured a spectacular awards ceremony, where a display of fireworks illuminated the night sky. The awards recognized the dedication, skill, and sportsmanship displayed by the young athletes.
