J&K thrashes Jharkhand to win National Tennis Ball Cricket C’ship

JAMMU, Jan 20: Outplaying Jharkhand by 7 wickets in the summit clash, J&K becomes champion in 61st National School Games Under-19 Boys Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, organized by the Government of Jharkhand, under the auspices of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) at Ranchi.
Earlier, Jharkhand scored 66 runs in the stipulated 12 overs. Tanu Sharma and Raghubir contributed 13 and 12 runs respectively. For J&K, Sahil Singh was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 3 important wickets, while Suhaib Ashiq took 2 wickets.
J&K, in reply, chased the target in 8.2 overs by losing one wicket, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Danish top scored with unbeaten 42 runs, while Saqib contributed 14 runs to the total. Danish was adjudged as man of the match and best batsman of the Tournament, while Umar Sofi was declared man of the series. J&K team was accompanied by BK Tickoo as coach and manager.
The State team was sponsored by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, headed by its Director General, Jahangir Mir.
Director Sports, Tourism and Culture, Jharkhand, Ravinder Kumar was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who presented trophy and other prizes to the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
