JK team leaves to participate in 5th Dragon Championship

JAMMU, Feb 9: A 32-member contingent of men and women left for Udaipur, Rajasthan to participate in 5th National Dragon and National Canoe and Polo Championships.
Under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Kayaking and Canoeing Association the team will participate in the events to be held from February 11 under Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association.
President of the Association and Member Legislative Council, Firdous Tak and senior vice president and MLA Aijaz Mir jointly flaged off the team from Jammu Railway Station. They were accompanied by Deepak Handa and Rahul Kapoor.
Speaking on the occasion, Firdous Tak said that the water sport teams from Jammu and Kashmir have performed exceptionally well in all the national championship. Kayaking and Canoeing has been the medal winning game for Jammu and Kashmir and despite shortage of infrastructure and equipment the players performed well.
He complimented international coach, Bilquis Mir for preparing the teams for national and international events.
The Association wished the team good luck and hoped that the players will perform to best of their capabilities.
