JAMMU, Jan 17: 41st State Badminton Championship, which had begun on January 13, concluded at Police Badminton Hall, Police Lines, here today.
Chief Vigilance Commissioner J&K, Kuldeep Khoda was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes among the winners and runner-up shuttlers on the valedictory function.
S Rangil Singh, president J&K Olympic Association presided over the function, while Dilip Thussu, Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest underlined the importance of sports in inculcating the discipline and team spirit among the youth.
Earlier, Sudershan Singh Wazir, president J&K Badminton Association presented welcome address, while O D Sharma, general secretary J&K Badminton Association presented vote of thanks.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were NR Gupta, DD Magotra, Mohd Irfan Ullah, Balbir Singh Jamwal, Haji Qyoom, Rajan Sharma and Sat Pal Sharma.
In Under-10 boys singles, Piyush emerged runner-up, while Vidhan was winner and in Under-10 girls singles, Unnati and Pranjal bagged runners-up and winner titles respectively.
Aesh Goswami and Amil emerged runner-up and winner in Under-13 boys singles, while in Under-13 boys doubles final, Aesh and Puranjay got better of Rajbir and Prajwal.
In Under-13 girls singles final, Naman was the winner and Bhavani emerged runners-up, while in Under-13 girls doubles, the duo of Rashmi and Sharuti lost to the pair of Naman and Bhavani.
In Under-15 boys singles, Vidhant won the title and Amit was the runner-up, while in Under-15 boys doubles, Puranjay and Aesh lost to Savinay and Amil in the title clash.
Naman defeated Peehushi in Under-15 girls singles final.
Divum Gupta defeated Raghav Dogra in Under-17 boys singles final, while in Under-17 boys doubles summit clash, Divum and Raghav got better of Adam and Amil.
Naman prevailed over Peehushi in Under-17 girls singles final, while in Under-19 boys singles title clash, Divum Gupta drubbed Raghav Dogra.
Dhananjay and Adam defeated Raghav and Savinay in the Under-19 boys doubles final.
In Under-19 girls singles, Naman got better of Peehushi, while in doubles, Naman and Peehushi prevailed over Mitakshara and Rupal in the summit clash.
In women’s singles, Diksha emerged winner and Prabjyot was the runner-up, while in women’s doubles title clash, Diksha and Akanksha got better of Diksha and Prabjyot.
Vipul Saini won the men’s singles title, while Divum Gupta emerged runner-up, while in men’s doubles, Vipul Saini and Vikram trounced Rahul and Shankil in the final.
In veteran’s above 35 singles, Rahul Sharma and Vivek Mehta bagged winners and runners-up titles respectively, while in veteran’s above 45 doubles, Vivek Slathia and Sukhdev Singh outplayed Ramesh Sharma and Ravinder Gupta in the summit clash.
