JAMMU, Nov 15: J&K Senior Women got rousing welcome from the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on arrival at Jammu from Bangalore, here today.
The J&K senior women team, led by skipper Sandhya Sayal were welcomed by Brig. (Retd) Anil Gupta, Member Administration JKCA and others at JKCA Office Jammu by putting garlands around the necks of the players and officials of the JKCA who accompanied the team.
At the league stage, J&K team displayed a splendid performance in the BCCI’s prestigious Senior Women One Day Trophy and won the five matches out of six. They defeated Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Bihar and Manipur, but lost to Meghalaya in the last league match played at Kolkata on November 5, while in the pre-quarterfinal match, J&K team also lost to Delhi at Alur Cricket Stadium Bangalore on November 13 and ended the campaign in the tournament.
It is pertinent to mention here that it was for the first time in the history of J&K Cricket Association that any women team had made it to the knockout stage.
The Jammu and Kashmir women team was accompanied by Chetan Dhingra as head coach, Ankita Jalla as manager, Rajesh Dhar as joint manager, Abida Khan as bowling coach and Meenu Singh Slathia as fielding coach.
