JAMMU, Nov 6: Defeating their rivals convincingly in their league matches and semi-final, the J&K Specially Abled sailed into finals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Inter-State Cricket Championship for Disabled Cricketers by defeating West Bengal in the Semi final by 5 wickets at KD Singh Babu Stadium Lucknow, today.
Batting first, West Bengal cricket team scored 150 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs wherein Rajat Biswas made 47 runs, while Abdul Khalik scored 38 runs and Tushar Paul contributed 27 runs. From the bowling side, Amir and Wasim Iqbal took 2 wickets each for Jammu and Kashmir, while Nadeem, Manzoor and Majid took 1 wicket each.
In reply, the J&K Specially Abled team chased the target in 16.4 overs by losing only 5 wickets, thus winning the match by 5 wickets. Wasim Iqbal scored highest 76 runs, hitting 8 sixes, Jaffar also made important 26 runs, while Aiyaz made16 runs and Majid contributed 15.
From the bowling side, Jayanta and Jayesh took 2 wickets each, while Ajaz took 1 wicket. Thus J&K won the match by 5 wickets.Wasim Iqbal was declared as man of the match for his all-round performance and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs10000.
Rajesh Gill, mentor of J&K Physically Challenged Cricket Team congratulated the team for the brilliant performance in the national tournament for the consecutive five wins. He also complemented captain Nadeem Ahmad for guiding the young players to play in a cohesive unit.
The final match between J&K and Haryana will be played tomorrow at 11 am at the same venue.
